I specialise in supporting neurodivergent individuals and couples in forming the healthy, authentic relationships they desire. While this is my specialty area, I also work with clients no matter their neurotype.

I work with people who are single, partnered/married, asexual, polyamorous or in ENM/open relationships, LGBTQ+, going through a separation, transitioning gender, experiencing sexual difficulties, navigating long-distance relationships, just to name a few examples.

When working with me, the place we always start is the relationship you have with yourself. Being able to identify your own needs, feelings, values and boundaries will allow you to then communicate them more effectively with others. In connecting to your self-worth and core values, you’re able to make choices (big and small) that align with who you are and the life you want to have.

If you’re interested in individual or couples sessions, the first step is to book a free 15-minute call to see if we’d make a good fit. See my schedule below (or follow this link).

I am currently based in Canada, offering 1:1 and couples sessions fully online internationally

Self-Discovery and Relationship Coaching

FAQs

  • I offer coaching and consulting for individuals and couples wanting to connect more authentically, communicate more effectively, create greater emotional security in their relationship and align themselves with their true values and vision in life.

I am not a psychologist or psychotherapist and therefore do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions or trauma.

  • Yes! I am a member of the International Institute for Complementary Therapists, so am able to work with clients internationally.

  • Yes, I run sessions over Zoom.

  • Whether it be individuals or couples, clients have worked with me to improve their self-confidence, make meaning of their late ADHD/autism diagnoses, address body image issues or sexual difficulties and pain, transform their dating life, navigate FIFO or long-distance relationships, transition careers/life stages, move through a separation, just to name a few examples. I regularly work with people that are neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, gender diverse, polyamorous or ethically non-monogamous.

  • Depending on the case, I offer some flexibility around the frequency of sessions. However, weekly is always recommended to start. This is mainly because the first 3-6 sessions are considered the “assessment phase”. This is the minimum amount of time it takes to get enough of a window into the client’s context and goals.

When they’re ready, moving to fortnightly sessions gives clients more time and opportunity to apply the work in their day-to-day life. Monthly is considered “maintenance”.

  • How long is a piece of string? Annoying saying, I know, but it is the reality. Making substantial changes to your habits and patterns (and seeing real results) requires going to the core of each problem. Realistically, that takes years. It’s important to set expectations and know there’s no quick fix.

  • Examples of modalities I draw upon in session include narrative therapy, reparenting/self-parenting, Gottman Method, non-violent communication, writing as therapy. When working with clients who are seeing me for sexuality related issues, sessions will often involve a sexual (re)education (as most of us growing up didn’t receive the comprehensive sex-positive sex ed we all deserved).

Testimonials

“Mim is kind, caring, funny, thoughtful and above all genuine. For the past 40 years I have been hiding and being ashamed about my sexuality and my gender, and after trying numerous other therapists I never thought I would find the answers I was so desperately seeking. Working with Mim has shown me that I don’t need to hide and that every permutation of sexuality and gender are perfectly valid. I am eager to see what the future brings and what answers still remain undiscovered, but I will be forever grateful for the help and support along this journey, I wouldn’t want a better guide.”

- Gender fluid person, 50s

“I went from rarely leaving my house or room with zero routine, to being more active, employed, and able to experience joy again. Mim could tell not only what it was I was working towards, but she knew what foundations needed to be in place before progress could be made. With confidence and character, she challenged me and the stories I had told myself for years. She always had my best interests in mind.”

- Man, late 20s

“I was skeptical going to Mim’s workshop. I honestly thought it would be a lecture on feminism. But my partner sees Mim for therapy, and I’ve noticed that their sessions really help her, so I figured it’d be worth finding out why. I was surprised. I actually felt really understood and validated. I think the couple of things I took away from Mim’s workshop have helped me communicate my feelings and set boundaries a lot better in my life.”

- Man, early 30s

“Therapy with Mim was really helpful for our relationship as we are generally good as individuals when working on ourselves, but found it challenging to voice our emotions without being judgemental. The tools Mim offered during our sessions gave us guidance on how we can have more meaningful conversations with each other, in a more loving, caring and open way.”

- Couple, late 20s

“I felt very understood and listened to by Mim, which has made a massive difference for me in how I relate to myself. I feel so much more at peace on how I relate to the outside world.”

- Non-binary person, early 20s

“We’ve been working with Mim for a while now and now only have sessions once a month because it’s actually something we look forward to! Mim is able to see all perspectives and helps us understand where the other person is coming from. We’re communicating better than ever before and are able to connect more deeply with each other.”

- Couple, early 30s

“Mim helped us realise it's possible to enjoy couples therapy. She gave us more than what we expected. It's not easy to find a relationship counsellor that isn’t clinical, analysing and assessing. Mim asked meaningful questions that we could both reflect on and practise with each other at home.”

- Heterosexual couple, mid 20s

“I used to be a very closed person, who really struggled to talk about emotions. I tried a number of therapists before with no luck. Mim has completely opened up a whole deeper level of thinking and connecting with myself that I've never explored. Mim just makes you feel so comfortable, she genuinely listens and cares - you're not just another client.”

- Woman, early 40s

“Mim is gentle, kind and really empathetic in nature. She also just really genuinely cares. She helped us see each others side with more empathy and taught us there will always be conflict but there are ways to navigate it and remain respectful of each other.”

- Couple, 20s and 30s
