Mentoring for ADHD and autistic youth

I offer mentoring and coaching sessions to youth aged 14+ who have recently received their ADHD and/or autism diagnosis and are wanting to better understand themselves and their new identity.

Whether diagnosed recently or earlier in childhood, I work with clients no matter where they are in their assessment journey. They may be at the beginning of questioning their own neurodivergence with their parents.

So what does Neurodivergent Youth Mentoring involve? It may include:

  • Better understanding ADHD and/or autism and how it uniquely presents for them

  • What a diagnosis means for their life and relationships

  • Exploring one’s own sense of self - both through the lens of their neurodivergence and overall

  • Learning emotional regulation strategies

  • Practising identifying their own feelings and needs, then voicing these with others

  • How to form and sustain authentic friendships

  • Improving self-esteem and self-confidence

  • Navigating Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria (RSD)

  • Managing executive dysfunction difficulties

Naturally, mentoring sessions will cover productivity, however this is not the focus of what I offer. I believe that in order to discover what tailored systems, schooling methods and strategies best support a young individual, space must first be given to exploring themselves and their neurodivergent identity. Rather than jumping straight into the skills building, I start by bringing curiosity and compassion to the individual’s experience, mapping out a clearer picture of their emerging strengths, interests, hobbies and the unique ways they like to connect with friends and family.

If you are interested in mentoring sessions or you’re a parent interested in sessions for your child, you’re welcome to book a free 15-minute call to see if we’d make a good fit. I am now also offering face-to-face sessions at the Montreal Neuropsychology Center in Westmount.
